What’s New with our Fundraising for the 2019-2020 School Year?

Not only are we are in the process of expanding our Fundraising efforts, but we’ve had some exciting changes with our existing programs.

BoxTops for Education

BoxTops logo

Box Tops is going digital! The program has a NEW and improved Box Tops mobile app that uses state-of-the-art technology to scan your store receipt, find participating products and instantly add Box Tops to our school’s earnings online. To download the app, first download a free third party QR code reader from your mobile device’s store, then use the QR code reader to scan the QR code displayed in the school’s office. Here’s an overview of the process:

Traditional Box Tops clips are being phased out of production but may continue to be found on many products throughout the store as packages transition to the new Box Tops labels. You can still clip the tradition Box Tops clips and turn them in at the school’s office. Please make sure each clip has a valid expiration date.

Visual representation of BoxTops and what to do when you see them on a product you purchase. Traditional BoxTops are typically pink wiht an image of a pencil and says "Box Tops Education". When you see this, clip it. The digital BoxTops image is mostly light blue and says Box Tops Scan Your Receipt". When you see this scan you receipt within the specified time frame.

On behalf of The Rose Valley Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization (PTO), I welcome our new and returning families to the 2019-2020 school year. This will be my fourth year with #TeamRoseValley, and I am looking forward to hitting the ground running for my first full year as PTO President. I am looking forward to working with our new Principal, Dr. Sharon Porter, to shape our PTO.

First order of business will be to fill our vacant board positions, form committees, and secure community sponsors for our initiatives, as well as build our budget through fundraising. We are recruiting for the following positions:

  • Vice President
  • Secretary
  • Treasurer
  • Historian
  • Student Historian
  • Translators (3)

We will continue to demonstrate our appreciation for our administrative, teaching, and support staff, and encourage and reward our awesome students as they Strive for Five.

Here are just a few of the initiatives that we would like to get up and running:

  • Uniform Exchange Program
  • Classroom Supply Store to benefit teachers and students
  • STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) Activities, Demonstrations, and Performances/Tutoring Program for general student body
  • Fingerprinting Family-Sponsor Match for qualifying families

As requested last year, we will incorporate some fun events specifically for our parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and family friends.

Dear Rose Valley Elementary School Community, Parents and Staff,

Promotions and leadership changes in our schoolhouses and central offices are a natural part of the reorganization of our school system.

PGCPS would like to get your input on a community questionnaire, “School Leadership Skills and Characteristics Community Input.” The purpose of this questionnaire is to gather your best thinking. In essence, what do you think are the strongest attributes and necessary skills a principal of this unique school community should possess? This will in turn help us develop a leadership profile for your school and will inform the overall decision-making process for selecting an instructional leader. The data collected will serve as data points in identifying principal candidates who are most suited to meet the needs of your school community.

Your principal or his/her designee will work with the Office of Talent Development and Area office staff to facilitate the distribution and collection of the questionnaire.  A link to SurveyMonkey (our data gathering tool) is provided below and available from your principal or his/her designee. Please take 5-10 minutes to complete the questionnaire in order to provide us with your opinion. We are asking that all input be provided by midnight, on Friday, June 28, 2019. Survey Monkey will not be accessible after this time.  Special Note: If you do not have access to a computer, please contact your school’s principal or his/her designee for assistance.

Survey Links:- –    https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/RoseValleyES  – English
https://es.surveymonkey.com/r/spRoseValleyES -Spanish

In addition to the completing the survey, you will have the opportunity to share your thoughts at a community meeting on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. at Rose Valley Elementary School. We encourage your participation in this interactive forum, and we appreciate your support, insight and flexibility in completing the questionnaire in a timely manner.  Please feel free to provide any additional insight and information that you think will be helpful in identifying the characteristics and attributes of leadership in your building.  If you have more detailed input, the survey provides an extended area for you to provide any additional comments, thoughts or information.  If you would like to include any additional information outside of this survey to be included for consideration, please feel free to email [email protected].

We truly appreciate you taking the time to provide us with your thoughts and the Office of Talent Development will provide the school principal or his/her designee with a completed School Leadership Profile once the data has been compiled from school community input.

Your immediate attention to this matter is greatly appreciated.  Should you have any questions, please contact your school directly.

Thank you,
The Office of Talent Development

Anyone who requires an auxiliary aide/service for effective communication, or the modification of a procedure/policy in order to complete this survey, please contact the school principal. Requests should be made as soon as possible.

2017 Approved Educational Facilities Master Plan (EFMP)

Are you familiar with the Fiscal Year (FY) 2017 Educational Facilities Master Plan (EFMP)? As explained in Understanding the Prince George’s County Public Schools FY 2017 Educational Facilities Master Plan, an exclusive featured in The Enquirer-Gazette, “it proposes a proactive and comprehensive strategy to address the current and future facilities needs of aging inventory and growing communities.  Rather than long lists of systemic replacement projects that just brush the surface of schools’ needs, the 20-year plan proposes a renovation program to upgrade both the physical and educational deficiencies of every school built before 1999, according to the PGCPS Department of Capital Programs website.” This includes Rose Valley Elementary School and the middle school that we feed, Issac J. Gourdine. Take a look at the most recent updates to the EFMP.

Welcome to your Digital PTO Site!

Welcome to DigitalPTO.com | Powering all Parent Groups Online.

We are excited to have you as a part of our team. As a new member, we have laid out some of the ground work for you to get your Parent Group site started quickly. This initial design is based on researching thousands of parent groups, but it may not be perfect for your needs, so you can always change and modify it as you see fit!

We have added some of the most common menu navigation options across the top of your website and added some filler content to each of the Pages. As we mentioned, you are welcome to edit and delete any and all of the pre-created pages as you see fit. We will also teach you in the Quick Start Guide below how to hide these pre-built posts from the public so you can reference them later!

Be sure to visit our Digital PTO Help Center as well for answers to almost all of your questions. Our Help Center is loaded with information and tutorials in a very easy to follow format that should take care of the majority of your needs.

If you are planning on upgrading to one of our paid plans, we would highly suggest keeping these pages that have been pre-created in tact as they will be needed to install things like your PTA/PTO Calendar, the Volunteer Form, the Contact Us form and the Online Family Registration form. If you are sticking with the Free Plan, feel free to delete anything you don’t need.

Remember that our Upgrade Plans start at only $5 / month (with an annual plan) so upgrading is very cost effective and gives you access to many more features. If you’d like to learn more you can COMPARE PLANS or proceed directly to UPGRADE YOUR SITE.

We would all like to take this moment to officially thank you for signing up for Digital PTO and we hope you will love our service as much as we love providing it for you. If you have any questions, please let us know.

See you soon ~
